Honourable Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee launched Artisans Credit Card Scheme over Videoconferencing on 19th December 2003. Hon'ble Prime Minister was accompanied by Hon'ble Minister of Textiles Shri Shahnawaz Hussain and BJP Party President Shri Venkiah Naidu at Panchvati. 

The conference was also attended by Hon'ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Shri Chnadrababu Naidu, Hon'ble Chief Minister of Orissa Shri Naveen Pattnaik and Hon'ble Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Shri Mulayam Singh Yadav via videoconferencing. 

Artisans Credit Cards were distributed to a selected group of artisans/weavers at all the locations during the launch of the scheme.

   

 

Hon'ble Chief Minister of Jharkhand Shri Arjun Munda's initiative over Videoconferencing - 11th, 12th & 13th December 2003
From NIC Jharkhand Unit

Hon'ble Chief Minister of Jharkhand Shri Arjun Munda held a Multi-Point Videoconferencing meeting on 11th December 2003 with all the District Collector's of Jharkhand from his official residence chamber. During this session CM reviewed the progress of Primary Teachers appointment's latest progress and also about Class III and Class IV Employees Backlog Clearance in all  the districts of Jharkhand.

Hon'ble Chief Minister also conducted a videoconference on 12th & 13th December in which he interacted with all District Mining Officers and Civil Surgeons of Jharkhand from his official residence chamber. During this session CM reviewed the progress of Mining Registration and progress of Medical Officers Appointment in all the districts of Jharkhand.

   

 

 

Address by Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri A.B.Vajpayee during the inaugural function of the India-Ghana Kofi Annan Centre of excellence for Communications and IT over Videoconferencing - 9th December 2003

Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee delivered a speech at the inaugural function of India-Ghana Kofi Annan Centre of excellence for Communications and IT at Accra, Ghana over Videoconferencing on 9th December 2003.

Hon'ble Prime Minister commented that - 

"...from another perspective, it is perhaps fitting that this Centre should be inaugurated through this inter-continental connection, illustrating the power and versatility we have today achieved in information and communications technologies...."

The Kofi Annan Centre of excellence for Communications and IT was set up as part of an bilateral agreement between Government of India and Government of Ghana for cooperation in the field of Information Technology.

NIC had provided the technical support at "Panchvati" for establishing the Videoconferencing link between Ghana and India over ISDN network. The conference lasted for about half an hour. 

   

 

Lt Governor Launches Video Conference facility at Andaman Bhawan New Delhi - 18th November 2003

The Hon’ble Lt Governor of Administration of Andaman & Nicobar Island Sri L N Jha  inaugurated Video Conference facility between Andaman Bhavan, New Delhi and Andaman Secretariat, Port Blair on 18th November 2003. The inauguration was followed by discussions with senior officials of the A&N Administration at NIC Secretariat, Port Blair.

Lt. Gov. Shri L.N.Jha addressing from Andaman BhavanHon'ble Lt. Governor was chairing the session from Andaman Bhavan, Delhi and was accompanied by Shri A Anbarasu, Secretary (IT & Tourism), and Shri Jayadev Sarangi, Resident Commissioner, Andaman Bhavan.

During the discussion, presentation were also given by IT firms namely M/s ITI, M/s CMC Ltd & M/s First Sight Computing based at Delhi, on various e-governance solutions, they have developed, which can be adopted  at A&N Islands.

The participants at Port Blair, included Shri S Hemachandran Development Commissioner, Shri Udipta Ray, Secretary Education, Supdt Engineer, APWD, Supdt Engineer, Electricity, Dy Secretary Planning, CGM, BSNL, Joint Secretary (IT) and other  officials concerned.

NIC/NICSI has provided Videoconferencing set up at Andaman Bhavan, Delhi and Andaman Secretariat, Port Blair over ISDN network.

   

 

Videoconferencing held for Honourable High Court - 1st November 2003

Honourable High Court has directed National Informatics Centre to set up a 
Videoconferencing between Vigyan Bhavan and Indian Consulate office at San Fransisco on 1st November 2003.

The Court examined a witness present at the Indian Consulate Office, San Fransisco over videoconferencing. The conference took place at 384 Kbps speed using ISDN lines and went on for an hour.

NIC had provided the technical support by setting up the Videoconferencing at the 
designated special court located at Vigyan Bhavan. All present appreciated the quality of 
audio and video.

   

 

 

Inauguration of BSNL's CellONE Mobile Services over Videoconferencing by Hon'ble Prime Minister - 27th October 2003

Honourable Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee inaugurated BSNL's CellONE Mobile 
Services at Kohima, Nagaland on 27th October 2003. The function was held at RajPrime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee speaking to Union Communications Minister Shri Arun Shourie Bhawan, Kohima. Hon'ble Prime Minister spoke to Hon'ble Union Minister of Communications and Information Technology Shri Arun Shourie over BSNL's CellONE Mobile phone from Kohima. Hon'ble Prime Minister was accompanied by H.E.Governor of Nagaland and Hon'ble Chief Minister of Nagaland at Kohima.

All this while both Hon'ble Prime Minister and Hon'ble Union Minister were able to see 
each other as well. National Informatics Centre provided the videoconferencing support to BSNL by connecting Delhi and Kohima over NICNET.
NIC services were well appreciated by Minister and CMD, BSNL Shri Prithipal Singh.

 

   

Inauguration of Videoconferencing in Jammu & Kashmir by Hon'ble Chief Minister - 2nd October 2003

On the day of Gandhi Jayanti, 2nd October 2003, Hon'ble Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Shri Mufti Mohammed Sayeed inaugurated Video Conferencing facility in the State by interacting with Jammu, Leh District and Nyoma Block in Leh. Hon'ble Chief Minister was chairing the session from Srinagar Secretariat.

He was accompanied by Minister, IT, J&K, Chief Secreatary, J&K, Financial Commissioner, Finance, J&K, Commissioner, IT, J&K and other Seinor Officers of J&K Government at Srinagar.

Hon'ble Chief Minister interacted with Jammu where Social Welfare and Rural Development Ministers, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu & Deputy Commissioner, Jammu and other officers of District Administration were available. He also interacted with officials present in Leh District and Nyoma Block of Leh. During the session he reviewed various projects at Jammu & Leh.

NIC had set up videoconferencing facility in Leh DC Office, Leh Hill Development Council, Nyoma Block, Srinagar and Jammu respectively.

   

 

Training Programme held for CIC Operators and Custodians over Videoconferencing - September 15th - 19th & September 22nd - 24th

A training programme for the CIC Operators and Custodians respectively was conducted over video broadcasting from NIC Hqrs and Assam State Unit. The training programme was conducted between September 15th-19th and September 22nd - 24th.

In addition to familiarizing the audience with the equipment and software at CICs, training was also imparted on E-Suvidha, eNRICH, Drishya, Video Broadcast sessions, the Complaint Monitoring system and Chat for troubleshooting. The trainees at the CICs all over the North-East could address questions over the Web and send their feedback to which the trainers could respond on-line. The programme was successful and about 250 Operators and 100 Custodians attended. Some other guests like Gram Panchayat heads were also present. It is proposed to hold 3 repeat rounds of training for Operators and Custodians in October, November and December, 2003 for the benefit of those trainees who miss some or all of the earlier sessions.

 

   

 

Demonstration of Videoconferencing to Honourable Minister of State in Ministry of External Affairs - 9th September 2003

A videoconferencing demonstration was given to Honourable Minister of State in Ministry of External Affairs Shri Vinod Khanna during his visit to Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee School of Excellence for Communication and Information Technology at Ulanbator, Mongolia. The videoconferencing project was implemented by NIC/NICSI under the guidance of Department of Information Technology, Government of India. An agreement has been signed between India and Mongolia for cooperation in the field of Information and Communication Technology (ICT).

   

 

Videoconferencing by State Government of UP - 5th September 2003

Secretary/ED Shri J.S. Deepak along with General Manager( Pub. Sec. ), GM(HAP), GM(FAD), GM (Pvt. Sec), GM(DAP), GM( Trg. ), SPC( MKS ), DGM(R&E ), DGM (FPIS ), DGM(Pvt.) , APC(IEC-S) , PM(DAP-GP/SSG/SKD ) , APC(DAP-SPK ) , Monitor the Progress of SIFPSA programme like district sterilization status, Readiness of PHC/CHC sites for providing quality sterilization services, progress made under routine immunization ( RI ) project, status of implementation of DAP interventions and local issues of 38 districts of UP.

The conference were attended by Doctors and UNICEF representatives. They spoke about various viruses found in districts. Chief Medical Officer and Project Manager, Asstt. Project Manager of SIFPSA/Health Department was present in the District's. The session lasted for 5 hours. Secretary appreciated the Video Conferencing and thanked NIC officials.

   

 

Launch of India Disaster Resource Network website by Honourable Deputy Prime Minister Shri L.K.Advani over Videoconferencing- 1st September 2003

Honourable Deputy Prime Minister Shri L.K.Advani inaugurated India Disaster Resource Network (IDRN), web site of an online Inventory of Resources for Disaster Management on 1st September 2003 over videoconferencing

During the inauguration Hon’ble Deputy Prime Minister interacted with Chief Minister of five States namely, Shri Tarun Gogoi, Hon’ble CM of Assam, Shri Narendra Modi, Hon’ble CM of Gujarat, Shri S.K.Shinde, Hon’ble CM of Maharashtra, Shri Naveen Pattnaik, Hon’ble CM of Orissa and Shri Buddhadeb Dasgupta, Hon’ble CM of West Bengal respectively over videoconferencing. NIC has facilitated the multipoint conferencing set up at Ministry of Home. The Hon’ble Chief Minister’s of five participating States were present at NIC Videoconferencing Studio at respective places. 

IDRN is one of the initiatives under the Government of India - UNDP Disaster Risk Management Programme for disaster reduction. The IDRN is a nation-wide electronic inventory of essential and specialist resources for disaster response both specialist equipment and specialist manpower resources. The objective of IDRN is to collect and collate information on resources available in the country for emergency response and to enhance decision-making capabilities of Government functionaries in quick response to emergencies.

   

 

 

Distance Education Programme launched in Lakshadweep islands through Videoconferencing - 25th August 2003

Administrator of Lakshadwep Sri.K.S.Mehra, I.A.S. on 25th August 2003, inaugurated the Distance education programme through video conferencing in Lakshadweep islands. Inaugurating the facility the administrator said, “The facility of video conferencing is of great relevance in the context of the island territory. There is a need to extend this facility to all the islands.” He also informed that the distance education programme will be useful to the teachers in accessing teaching methodologies easily.  

Sri. Sandeep Kumar, IAS Secretary (Information Technology), Lakshadweep who had felicitated the function from Kavaratti through Video conferencing informed that this is the first time that an administrator is launching a programme for the people of Lakshadweep from Kochi. He also informed that the administration would organize regular educational programmes through video conferencing for the people of Lakshadweep. 

As part of the distance education programme faculty from State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Kerala delivered a lecture to the school teachers at Kavaratti, Minicoy and Chetlath.

   

 

 

Visit of His Excellency Mr. Bharrat Jagdeo, President of Co-operative Republic of Guyana - 24th August 2003

His Excellency Mr. Bharrat Jagdeo, President of Co-operative Republic of Guyana visited National Informatics Centre on 24th August 2003.

His Excellency at Master Earth Station accompanied by DG, NICDuring the visit, His Excellency Mr. Jagdeo, visited Master Earth Station of NIC and was briefed on the NICNET operations by NIC officials. Demonstration of Utility Mapping of Delhi was also done by NIC officials.

His Excellency Mr. Jagdeo, also participated in a videoconferencing session where he interacted with State Informatics Officer of Raipur, Bhopal and Ranchi respectively. He appreciated the efforts put in by NIC for providing Government-Citizen interfacing using the state of the art communication technology. His Excellency was accompanied Shri K.K.Jaiswal, Secretary-Department of Information Technology and Dr. N.Vijayaditya, Director General NIC.

 

   

 

Launch of BSNL's CellONE Mobile Services in Jammu & Kashmir over Videoconferencing - 20th August 2003

Honourable Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee launched BSNL's Cell ONE Mobile Services over videoconferencing on 20th August 2003. Honourable prime Minister was accompanied by Shri Arun Shourie, Honourable Minister of Communications and Information Technology at "Panchvati"

Shri Mufti Mohammed Sayeed, Honourable Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir was also present during the launch programme at Srinagar along with his Cabinet colleagues and press.

NIC facilitated the videoconferencing by connecting "Panchvati" with State Secretariat, Srinagar over NICNET. 

   

 

Public Grievances Redressal through Video Conferencing Inaugurated - 15th August 2003

The Administrator of Lakshadweep Sri. K.S. Mehra, IAS had inaugurated the Public Grievances Redressal through Video Conferencing in Lakshadweep on 15th August, Independence Day, 2003. The Administrator redressed the grievances from the people in the remote islands of Minicoy (South West Tip of India) and Chetlath in Lakshadweep. The administrator was impressed by the effectiveness of the system and informed that he is now fully confident that public grievances can be redressed effectively through Video Conferencing. The Secretary (Information Technology), Lakshadweep Sri Sandeep Kumar I.A.S, the Chief Counseller Lakshadweep Sri. U.C.K. Thangal, State Informatics Officer, Lakshadweep Sri. Ajith Brahmanandan and other senior officers of the Lakshadweep administration were present on the occasion. Sri. U.C.K. Thangal, Chief Counseller while giving the feed back of the people of Lakshadweep on launching the facility informed that this is one of the greatest achievement of the territory in recent times as this video conferencing facility in the three islands have brought the people of Lakshadweep together.

The officers from Lakshadweep administration office, Kochi, Lakshadweep liaison officer, New Delhi were also present on the occasion through Video Conferencing. The administrator greeted the officers on the Independence Day.

NIC/NICSI has established SCPC DAMA VSAT based Videoconferencing at four locations namely, Kavaratti, Minicoy Island, Chetlath Island and at the Lakshadweep Administration office, respectively. All the four locations were connected over multipoint conference for the inaugural session. 

The administrator informed that the administrator, collector-cum-development commissioner and other senior officers will be listening to the grievances of the public every week and asked the people of Lakshadweep. 

With the grant success of the public grievances redressal system the administration has decided to speed up the installation of the video conferencing facility to all the islands in Lakshadweep and the administrator declared in the Independence Day speech that the system would be installed in the remotest islands of Bitra and Kiltan very soon.

   

 

Other Important Conferences Held during the month of July
From VC Division

1. Principal Secretary (Infrastructure Development), Government of UP had a videoconferencing session with the 20 Districts on 7th July 2003

2. NIC reviewed the progress of DACNET Project by interacting with all the NIC State units over Videoconferencing on 21st and 22nd July 2003.

3. Secretary, Non-conventional Energy Department, Government of UP had an interactive session with 53 districts on 23rd July 2003.

4. Chief Secretary, Government of Orissa had conferencing with the Districts on 28th and 29th July 2003.

5. A Telemedicine Lecture/conference was conducted by the telemedicine group of NIC for all the North Eastern Sites on 27th July 2003.

6. Honourable CM of Jharkhand had videoconferencing meeting with respective District Commissioners in the state. The conference was spread over three days namely 23rd, 25th and 27th July 2003 and all the districts were covered during the same.

   

 

 

NICNET Videoconferencing Services to Honourable President of India - 6th  July 2003 & 27th July 2003

Honourable President with NIC OfficialsHon'ble President of India Dr Abdul Kalam addressed the gathering in New Jersey, USA through video conferencing on 27th July 2003 evening at 8.40 PM IST. The session lasted for over 40 minutes. At the US end Union Minister for HRD Dr Murli Manohar Joshi was also present at the dais when Honourable President gave his address. Above video conference was done at 320 Kbps using 3 ISDN lines.

This was the second Video conference done by Hon'ble President during the month of July using NICNET services. Honourable President also participated in a similar Videoconferencing with New Jersey, Tamil Sangam Convention on 6th July 2003.

   

 

NIC-Certifying Authority Inauguration - 8th July 2003

Shri Arun Shourie, Honourable Minister for Communications and Information Technology inaugurated the Certifying Authority Office at National Informatics Centre. He was accompanied by Minister of State for IT Shri Su.Thirunavukkarasar. The inaugural function was held in the office of NIC was was also attended by Senior DIT officials and press.

As the Government of India moves toward the implementation of E-Governance at various levels of Government functioning, authentication of information becomes a critical requirement. To provide the necessary platform, a Public Key Infrastructure becomes essential. NIC has set up a Certifying Authority, which is an integral part of this PKI. A Certifying Authority (CA) is a trusted third party or an entity that has been granted license by the Controller of Certifying Authorities (CCA), the apex regulatory body for Certifying Authorities in the country, to validate identities and issue Digital Signature Certificates.

   

 

CBI uses Videoconferencing to examine Witness - 27th June 2003

National Informatics Centre organized a videoconferencing link between NIC Head Quarters New Delhi and the office of Dassault Systems of America Corp., California, USA on 27.06.2003. During this session, Shri Vinod Kumar (Metropolitan Magistrate), Patiala House Court, New Delhi had recorded the statement of Mr.Tom Vorgitch of M/s Solid Concepts of USA through videoconferencing U/s 164 Cr.PC:RC-10(E)/2003/EOW-I/DLI dtd.24-08-2002. The proceedings went on for almost 3 hours.

This videoconferencing session was a land mark in the history of Judiciary Machinery of India and also for the CBI, as it was for the first time ever in Indian history that a witness has been interrogated and recorded through videoconferencing technology. A statement via videoconferencing is permitted as per Supreme Court directions.

   

 

 

Internal Promotion Review for Bureau of Indian Standards - 18th-26th June 2003

Bureau of Indian Standards conducted its Internal promotional reviews for its staff over videoconferencing between 18th - 26th June 2003. The interview panel, present in New Delhi, was chaired by Director General, BIS. Around 50 candidates present at various VC studios of NIC namely, Kolkatta, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Bangalore, Patna, Vishakhapatnam, Hyderabad, Navi Mumbai, Nagpur, Chandigarh, Gandhinagar, Kanpur, Thiruvananthapuram, Lucknow, Bhopal and Pune participated in the review programme.

This was the first time Bureau of Indian Standards was using Videoconferencing for conducting reviews for its staff. Director General, BIS appreciated the state of the art technology being used and expressed his desire to use videoconferencing on a regular basis for interacting with its various offices located across the country.

   

 

Launch of Vidyavahini Project by Honourable Prime Minister - 11th June 2003

"VIDYAVAHINI" Project was formally launched by Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee through videoconferencing on 11th June 2003. During the conference he interacted with Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Jharkhand and State IT and Education Minister's of West Bengal and Lucknow respectively.

Shri Arun Shourie, Honourable Minister of Communications and Information Technology was also present at Panchvati along with Prime Minister along with Secretary, DIT Shri R.R.Shah.

The Vidyavahini project will connect 60000 schools - either run by Government or funded by it - through internet and intranet to bring Information Technology to the classroom. The project envisages providing these schools with computer labs to facilitate IT Education, Internet access, online library, academic services and web casting.

Honourable Minister of IT apprised the august gathering over videoconferencing that pilot projects had been undertaken in 140 schools in seven districts - Lucknow & Allahabad in UP, Gandhinagar in Gujarat, Hazaribagh in Jharkhand, Kuppam in Andhra Pradesh, South 24-Parganas in West Bengal and Parlivaijnath in Maharashtra, 

In each of the these districts, 20 schools were selected in consultation with the State Government and were provided with computer lab with facility to connect to the Net. This will help create a central knowledge pool and educational tools that can be drawn from at will by any interested student, teacher or school.

NIC has set up mobile videoconferencing unit at Government Girls School, Lucknow and Honourable Prime Minister also interacted with 4 Girl student over videoconferencing. There was a gathering of around 250 people who witnessed this event at Lucknow. The Chief Minister and State Minister's were present at NIC Videoconferencing Studios at respective places.

   

 

Inauguration of Kosi River Rail Bridge by Hon'ble Prime Minister - 6th June 2003

Honorable Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee inaugurated the Koshi River Rail bridge project on 6th June 2003. Hon'b;e Prime Minister was addressing a public meeting being held at College ground, Nirmali, Bihar. Live video of on going project work of was shown to Honorable Prime Minister.

NIC has established mobile VSAT and videoconferencing at Nirmali College Ground and at the project site located at Koshi river side. The inauguration was also witnessed by Shri Nitish Kumar, Hon'ble Railway Minister, Hon'ble Defence Minister Shri George Fernandes, Hon'ble Civil Aviation Minister Shri Shahnawaz Hussain, and Hon'ble Chief Minister of Bihar Smt. Rabri Devi who were present at the rally ground.

   

 

Dedication of Videoconferencing Network to the Public by Honourable Chief Minister of Uttaranchal Shri N.D.Tiwari - 29th May 2003

It was a beginning of new era in the IT history of Uttaranchal when honourable Chief Minister Narayan Dutt Tiwari dedicated the Videoconferencing Network, established with technical support of National Informatics Centre, to the public on 29th May 2003.

On this occasion, he congratulated the team of NIC and appreciated the efforts put by their officers at all levels. He told that before dedicating this network to the public, he himself performed a number of test sessions with district officials at remote district headquarters of the state. He was happy to inform to the representatives of public, listening to him at all district headquarters of the state through VC network, that after adoption of this state-of-the-art technology, he would be able to interact with them more frequently through Videoconferencing, even sitting at remote places. Speaking to his vision he said that very soon a day would come when the students of scattered remote settlements of the state would be able to receive training from experts with the help of this kind of facility. He said that his government has already taken such initiatives, and in the first phase five computers have been sent to each school for providing training to the students. Describing to the present trends of technological advancements in the field of Communication and Information Technology, he imagined that single cable coming to house would carry fifty thousand TV channels and people will have the choice for going into relevant channel. He also spoke on the power and fast retrieval of a variety of information through Internet.

On this occasion Chief Minister also inaugurated “Janshree Insurance Scheme” of LIC for Raji and Buksha tribes. Alongwith a number of members of public, he spoke to MP, MLAs and District Magistrates of Udham Singh Nagar, Pithoragarh and Nainital on VC. Among the dignitaries who witnessed the occasion at Dehradun were Minister of Social Welfare, Principal Secretary Forest & Rural development, Principal Secretary Home, Principal Secretary to CM, Secretary IT and Planning, Commissioner Kumaun Division at Dehradun and on the other side District Magistrates, Public Representatives and several other senior officials of the state watching the occasion from all district headquarters through Videoconferencing along with the members of Press and electronic Media.

   

 

 

Monitoring of issues relating to Disaster Management by Honourable Chief Minister of Uttaranchal over Videoconferencing - 25th May 2003

On 25th May 2003 Honourable Chief Minister of Uttaranchal Narayan Dutt Tiwari interacted with District Magistrates of Uttaranchal through a Multipoint conference. The meeting was on the preparations of the various agencies in the field of "Disaster Management". At the beginning of the meeting a power point presentation was given by Executive Director of Disaster Management and Mitigation Centre, Dehradun. It was broadcasted to six districts of Kumaun Division, who were part of the conference. After this Honourable Chief Minister along with his cabinet Colleague Mr. Harak Singh Rawat, Minister of Disaster Management and Mitigation and Chief Secretary started taking stock of various preparations of the districts. One by one he inquired from all the district magistrates regarding the maintenance of roads and modern techniques adopted; availability of doctors and medicines in hospitals, PHCs, CHCs; number of hours of breakdown of power supply, if any; status of communication channels to be used at the time of disaster; measures taken to minimize forest fires; availability of vehicles; assistance being taken from central agencies like ITBP, BRO etc.

   

 

Videoconference session by Department of Tourism, Govt. of Uttar Pradesh - 19th May 2003

Director General Tourism Shri Mukul Singhal, & Dr. Ajay Shankar Pandey, Managing Director Tourism Corporation UP, conducted a videoconferencing session on 19th May 2003 to monitor the progress of Tourism Development Schemes, Tourism Corporation Hotel Management, Target Fixing for tourism development offices, etc. Shri Harsh Sinha, Company Secretary, Shri R. S. Jaishwal, Chief Account Officer and Project Manager A. S. K. Singh also participated in the conference and General reviewed the progress of Schemes for all 15 Districts. Inauguration of Jharkhand Secondary Exam Result 2003 over Videoconferencing - 12th May 2003

The inauguration of Jharkhand Secondary Exam 2003 Result was accomplished by Hon'ble Chief Minister Shri Arjun Munda. He was at Saraikela-Kharsawa district and Hon'ble Minister of HRD, Secretary, education and Administrator Council were at Secretariatat Ranchi. It was a grand success as far as Video Conferencing and web hosting of result is concerned. This event was given wide publicity through Press and Local Doordarshan.

   

 

 

Participation in Elitex Exhibition - 28th & 29th April 2003

A Mobile Videoconferencing set up was installed and demonstrated at Elitex 2003 held on 28th & 29th April 2003 at Indian Habitat Centre, New Delhi.  The Annual exhibition was organised by Department of Information Technology, Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Government of India. Public  Grievances System adopted by Chattisgarh State Government over videoconferencing and Patna High Court Videoconferencing Services were also demonstrated from the stall. 

   

 

Honourable Chief Minister of Jharkhand's Initiative in E-Governance over Videoconferencing

Hon'ble Chief Minister of Jharkhand , Shri Arjun Singh Munda has initiated his 1st step towards E-Governance . Honourable CM is utilizing NIC's videoconferencing facility to interact with the Deputy Commissioners & SPs of all the districts of Jharkhand. He is reviewing the development projects of the district and also monitoring the law & Order situation of the district. One hour (8am-9am) video conferencing schedule has been reserved by the CM office for district review meetings on regular basis. Hon'ble CM is talking to the districts from his official residence. The 1st phase of review of 22 districts is over and he is likely to take up regular review with respect to department wise projects taken up in the districts from 1st week of May 2003.

   

 

Videoconferencing to monitor Kailash Mansarovar Yatra - 16th April 2003 & 25th April 2003

A Videoconferencing session was organised for preparations of the famous "Kailash Mansarover Yatra" whose base camp lies at Pithoragarh (Dharchula) and the "YATRA" passes through this boader district. The Video Conferencing session was presided over by the Commissioner Kumaun Division and M.D.

(KMVN) jointly from Nainital. The D.M. Pithoragarh was Chair Person at Pithoragarh's V.C. site in which all district level officers of almost all the departments participated. The V.C. session lasted for about two and half hours in which all points related with "Kailash Mansarovar Yatra" were discussed like communication facilities, medical facilities, food and fuel availability, water facility, wireless and security staff, KMVN's own arrangement, relief works arrangement in case of any calamity etc. The participants in the V.C. Session were from departments like Police, ITBP, Boader Road Organisation, P.W.D., Medical Deparment, BSNL, Jal Nigam/Jal Sansthan, Supply Office, KMVN, Revenue & disaster Management section of Collectorate, and media people. Commissioner Kumaun Division has appreciated NIC for providing this facility in the districts of Uttaranchal.

The Chief Minister of Uttaranchal Pt. Narayan Dutt Tiwari has talked and discussed through Video Conferencing on variuous administrative points with D.M., S.P., C.M.O., Executive Engineer (PWD), Commandent Boarder Road Organisation(BRO), P.D. (DRDA) and other district level officers at Pithoragarh. The V.C. Session lasted for more than a hour in which C.M. has seeked information of roads connecting "Kailash Mansarovar Yatra" route, security measures adopted at boarder, crime control in the district, arrangement being done from district administration of potable water in the summer, etc. The Chief minister expressed his pleasure for having the Video Conferencing facility in the state by which he is able to discuss all the things without physical movement. The session started at 7:30 p.m. on 25-04-2002 and ended at 8:45 p.m. in which Uttaranchal Congress President Sri Harish Rawat was also present.

   

 

Inauguration of Railway Board by Honourable Prime Minister - 5th April 2003

Honourable Prime Minister Shri A.B.Vajpayee inaugurated three Railway Projects over videoconferencing from Bilaspur on 5th April 2003 during his visit to the State of Chattisgarh. 

Three locations viz., Raipur, Bilaspur and Balpur Railway Station were connected over multipoibnt video link for the inauguration. Hon'ble Prime Minister was at Bilaspur and remotely he inaugurated New Railway Zone at Bilaspur, Chhattissgarh, New Railway Division at Raipur, Chhattissgarh and Doube Line between Champa-Balpur Section.

Honourable Chief Minister of Chhattissgarh Shri Ajit Jogi, Union Railway Minister- Shri Nitish Kumar, Minister of State for Railways - Shri Bandarudattaraya, Governor of Chhattissgarh were other dignatires present in the inauguration ceremeony at Bilaspur.

 

   

 

Chief Minister's of Jharkhand Videoconferencing - 3rd April 2003

Hon'ble Chief Minister of Jharkhand Shri Arjun Singh Munda held a Video Conferencing meeting on 3rd April 2003 with all the DC and SP of Jharkhand from his official chamber. The Video Conferencing started at 2.00 PM and went on smoothly for about 30 minutes. After that Chief Secretary of Jharkhand continued the meeting for another 30 minutes. This VC was done using the MCU facility of NIC headquarters.

   

 

Pulse Polio Immunization Programme in Uttar Pradesh - 27th Mach 2003

Chief Secretary Govt. of UP Shri D. S. Bagga along with Shri G. C. Chaturvedi Secretary , Medical & Family Welfare, Monitored the Progress of Pulse Polio Immunization Programme (PPI) in 18 Districts of UP over Videoconferencing on 27th March 2003. During Conference present dignitary Doctors, UNICEF representative also discussed about various viruses found in 18 districts. Secretary reviewed the progress of preparation for PPI dose to be given to children on 6Th April 2003.

District Magistrate and Chief Medical Officer and other Officials of UP Health Department were present in the District's VC Studios. The session started at 6.00 PM and lasted for 2 hours. Chief Secretary and other dignitaries present appreciated the Video Conferencing.

   

 

Videoconferencing held on Drought Mitigation Operations - 12th March 2003

Another Video Conferencing Session on Drought Mitigation Operation was successfully carried out on 12-Mar-2003 between Ministry of Agriculture, Govt. of India with Senior Govt. Officers, Govt. of Orissa during 10:30 AM to 11:15 AM.

The officers present at CMO, Orissa site were as follows.

Videoconferencing Held by Industry Department, Government of Uttaranchal - 3rd March 2003

A multipoint videoconferencing of Department of Industry, Government of Uttaranchal was successfully held on 3rd March 2003. It was a three hour-long meeting of Mr. S. Krishnan, Principal Secretary, and Industry with all the District Magistrate of Uttaranchal state. Since there are 13 districts in the state, multipoint conferencing held in two parts. Firstly districts of Garhwal Division were grouped and then in the second part districts of Kumaun division were covered.

Starting with his initial address Principal Secretary, Industry briefed the District Magistrates about salient features of the New Industrial Policy of the Uttaranchal state. He described that how state government is trying to attract Industrial houses to “Destination Uttaranchal”. They were informed about various tax holidays and reliefs which Government of India has given to the new born state. He appreciated the good work done by district Hardwar. He asked  District Magistrate, Hardwar  to address all the DMs from his site that how he has prepared various Industrial Maps clearly indicating various Industrial units along with national and state highways. DM hardwar in turn informed all the DMs about his presentations of existing and proposed industrial houses with different colours. This presentation was made a standard for all the districts during the video meet. Later on District magistrates one by one put their queries in front of Principal Secretary, which were cleared to their satisfaction. During the meet Commissioner Kumaun Division and Additional Secretary industry supported the efforts of Principal Secretary in explaining the guidelines and plans of state government in Industry sector. Various suggestions were also mutually exchanged.

At state headquarters Dehradun this meeting was attended by Sri Rakesh Sharma, Commissioner Kumaun Division, Mrs Radha Raturi, District Magistrate, Dehradun, Additional Secretary Parag Gupta, Additional Secretary Puneet Kansal and at district level General Managers, District Industry Centre were present along with their District magistrates / CDOs.

 

   

 

Review of Drought Relief Work in Madhya Pradesh over Videoconferencing - 14th February 2003

A Video-Conferencing session was held between Officials of Government of Madhya Pradesh and Ministry of Agriculture  for review of drought relief  work in Madhya Pradesh. The member present at NIC, Bhopal were as follows :

They have also suggested that such type of Video-Conferencing facility should  also be available at Mantralaya. Relief Commissioner have written in visitors book which is as follows :

"We had a very useful video-conference today. The arrangements were perfect and the NIC staff took great care to establish the links. All of us managed to say what we wanted without any problem."

   

 

Inauguration of Videoconferencing facilities in the State of Rajasthan - 11th February 2003

Hon’ble Chief minister of Rajasthan Shri Ashok Gehlot inaugurated the Videoconferencing facilities, installed at six divisional Commissionerates of Rajasthan on 11th February 2003. The six DC's are Jaipur, Ajmer, Bikaner, Jodhpur, Kota and Udaipur respectively. The following were present in NIC VC studio of Secretariat, Jaipur.

The Hon’ble Minister of Finance appreciated the efforts put in by NIC and expressed that more videoconferencing should be used for monitoring of various projects. The meeting lasted for about an hour.

   

 

 

Monitoring of Pulse Polio Programme in the State of Jharkhand - 4th February 2003

Central Government in tandem with the State Government is organizing a nation wide Pulse Polio Programme on 9th February 2003. Jharkhand took a leading step in utilizing Videoconferencing to disseminate the information regarding the Pulse Polio Programme to Civil Surgeons spread across the State. 

Secretary, Department of Health , Government of Jharkhand interacted with Civil Surgeons of all the Districts over Videoconferencing on 4th February 2003 to cerate awareness amongst the Doctors. This the first occasion when the state Government has utilised Video Conferencing in such a massive scale.

   

Review of BPL Census by State Government of Orissa - 22nd January 2003

Monitoring of Prime minister Village Road Development Scheme by Government of UP - 17th January 2003

The state capital recorded the lowest temperature of last 25 Years on Friday,17th January, mercury slipped to Zero but NIC never sleeps...Shri Rajeev Kumar , Commissioner Rural Development conducted a videoconferencing with 37 Districts of UP. The conference was to monitor the Progress of Prime Minister Village Road development Scheme, Ambedkar Grame Vikas, Rural Soft , Computerization , PMGSY, SGRY, SGSY, Indira Avas, BPL Survey schemes. Shri M. Deveraj , Additional Commissioner Rural Development, Project Director DRDA, Chief Development Officer, SRM FCI, Chief Engineer PWD were also present in the conference. Commissioner reviewed the progress of Schemes of all 37 Western & Central UP Districts. During the session Commissioner interacted with the CDO, Project Director, District Programme Officer, Executive Engineer PWD, other Officials of rural development Department officials in District’s. The conference lasted for more than 7 hours.
