Interaction with Telgi over Videoconferencing - August 2005

District Judge, Delhi took a decision to have interaction with Telgi who has been lodged in Pune Jail over Videoconferencing to ensure that no security lapse happens while transferring him from Pune to Delhi. The conference is done for the purpose of Judicial Remand Extension.

Two sessions were held during August 2005 for interrogating Telgi. NIC had facilitated the conference between Delhi and Pune over ISDN network. The court has proposed to conduct similar sessions in future as well.

 

 

 

 

Videoconference for National Knowledge Commission - 30th August 2005

The National Knowledge Commission is sponsoring several global dialogues through videoconference for knowledge sharing and consultation. NICNET's videoconferencing services was utilized to reach several locations across India and connect to the Global Development Learning Network for connection to other parts of the world including research and education institutions connected through Internet2 Commons. Chairman of National Knowledge Commission Mr. Sam Pitorda participated from USA-Illinois in the videoconferencing session held on 30th August 2005.

A Multipoint Connectivity between World Bank Bridge and NICNET Bridge at 256 Kbps using ISDN lines was done. 2 locations (i.e.Mumbai and Delhi) were connected to NICNET bridge. 8 locations were connected to World Bank Bridge. Various Knowledge Commission experts from countries like U.K., France, Ireland, USA, Israel etc. participated in this videoconferencing session.

 

 

 

Hon'ble Chief Minister of Jharkhand interaction with all Districts officials over Videoconferencing - 27th - 28th July 2005

Hon'ble Chief Minister of Jharkhand Shri Marandi interacted with all districts official of Jharkhand over videoconferencing on 27th July 2005. Hon'ble Chief Minister reviewed various health schemes run by the State Government with the District Administration along with taking stock of other related issues of Public Health schemes.

 

 

 

Inauguration of District Level Videoconferencing Facility in Himachal Pradesh by Hon'ble Chief Minister - 26th July 2005

The Hon’ble Chief Minister, Sh. Virbhadra Singh dedicated the Video Conferencing facility setup by National Informatics Centre in all the districts headquarters of Himachal Pradesh on 26th July, 2005. 

During this event, the Chief Minister, accompanied by cabinet colleagues and a group of senior officers including chief secretary and principal secretaries of various departments thanked Thiru Dayanadi Maran, the Hon’ble Minister of Communications and IT, GOI, for sanctioning the Video Conferencing project for the state of Himachal Pradesh.

The Video Conferencing project was sanctioned by the Department of Information Technology, Govt. of India, at a cost of Rs. 3 crores and 25 thousand for the installation of VC studios in 10 districts and four tribal sub-divisions of Bharmour, Pangi, Pooh and Kaza. These VC setups support a speed of 384 kbps besides providing data connectivity. With this installation the Himachal Pradesh is 10th state among those all districts are connected to each other through DAMA Video Conferencing Network. 

The VC session started at 3.25pm and it lasted for more than 2 hours during which the Hon’ble Chief Minister had a meeting with Deputy Commissioners and other district officers including SPs of all the districts.

 

 

 

Review meeting by Hon'ble Chief Minister of Punjab - 6th July 2005.

Hon'ble Chief Minister of Punjab Capt. Amarinder Singh has interacted with with all districts of Punjab on 6th July 2005 from his chamber. He discussed various issues of of Law and order, Civil issues and other health and administration issues with all collectors of Punjab.

STPI conducted its promotional review utilizing NIC's Videoconferencing Services on 30th June 2005. The interview panel for STPI was present at Delhi Studio and candidates appeared for the inetrviews from 5 remote sites.

NIC conducted its annual performance review for eligible candidates for promotion from PSA to TD grade between 6th - 8th June 2005. A total of 112 candidates appeared before the interview panel over videoconferencing during this period from various parts of the country.

Inauguration of Videoconferencing Services in the State of Bihar - 25th
May 2005

His Excellency Hon'ble Governor of Bihar Dr. Sardar Buta Singh dedicated videoconferencing services at 10 Districts of Bihar on 25th of May 2005. Dr Shakeel Ahmed, Hon'ble Union Minister of State, Communication and IT, GoI graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour. Chief Secretary, GoB, Development Commissioner, GoB also participated in the function.

Inaugurating the Video conferencing facility His Excellency Governor of Bihar said that Video conferencing in Bihar was long due and with the prompt assistance from the central government and timely reciprocation of state government, we have been able to place Bihar in the galaxy of few select states in the country where Video conferencing facility has been amply utilized and dedicated for the cause of e-governance for achieving better quality of life for the common masses.

H.E Governor of Bihar also interacted with the district administration of 10 Districts of Bihar where videoconferencing has been established namely, Muzaffarpur, Purnea, Saharsa, Munger, Darbhanga, Bhagalpur, Saran, Gaya, Patna and Madhubani respectively.

All the locations were connected in a multipoint conferencing mode at 256 Kbps speed through NIC-Hqrs.

Hon'ble Union Minister of State, Communication and IT Dr. Shakeel Ahmed thanked Dr. N. Vijayaditya, Director General, NIC in successfully commissioning the project and appreciated the efforts put in by NIC State Unit, Bihar in promoting and supporting the State Government in the field of Information Technology. 

Hon’ble Union State IT Minister Dr. Shakeel Ahmad also stressed upon the need for all help and assistance from the central government to bring Bihar in the forefront in the country with respect to IT intervention, education, governance, health and all basic amenities for the poor.

H.E Governor of Bihar Sr. Sardar Buta Singh during his address commended NIC and assured that videoconferencing will be extensively used by the State Government officials and the district administration.


Ministry of Commerce's Videoconferencing with Rome and Paris - 18th and
19th May 2005

Ministry of Commerce and Industry participated in a meeting between Officials of Trade and Commerce from Rome and Paris on 18th & 19th May 2005 through NIC’s Video Conferencing to discuss the draft framework for the trade negotiations at World Trade Organisation (WTO). The meeting was facilitated through Video Conferencing at National Informatics Centre (NIC) Head Quarter, New Delhi.

Hon'ble Chief Minister of Jharkhand held a series of videoconference sessions on 14th, 15th and 17th may 2005 respectively with all the districts to take review of various schemes being run by the State Government.

Hon'ble Chief Minister reviewed various schemes run by the State Government with the District Administration along with taking stock of water problem, drought relief measures, Law & Order, Power problem, Gokul Gram, Ayodhya Basti etc.

Hon'ble Chief Minister appreciated the efforts of NIC at such a short notice and Congratulated all the NIC officials who were involved in the Videoconferencing.

Address by Hon'ble President of India during the Inauguration of PMI - Asia Pacific Conference 2005 over Videoconferencing - 15th April 2005

Honourable President of India addressed a gathering of around 500 delegates participating in the PMI - Asia Pacific Conference 2005. Hon'ble President of India inaugurated Gyan Lahari - Asia Pacific 2005, Project Management Conference being held at Hyderabad.

NIC had established the video link over NICNET between Rashtrapati Bhavan and Hyderabad using Portable VSAT. The videoconference link was very stable at the speed of 512 kbps.

 

 

Launch of Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana by Honourable Prime Minister of India Dr. Manmohan Singh - 4th April 2005

A new scheme for creating rural electricity infrastructure and completing household electrification named as Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana Scheme of Rural Electricity Infrastructure and Household Electrification was launched by Honourable Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh on 4th April 2005 in a nation-wide function. Smt. Sonia Gandhi, Chairperson, National Advisory Council graced the occasion as Guest of Honour. Shri P.M. Sayeed, Union Power Minister presided over the function.  

The Chief Ministers of 12 States (Assam, J&K, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra and West Bengal) and Governor of Bihar participated in the programme through video-conferencing. Union Territory of Lakshadweep also participated on the national network during the programme.

National Informatics Centre facilitated the multipoint videoconferencing link over NICNET from Vigyan Bhavan to 9 States. Honourable Chief Minister of Assam, Jammu & Kashmir, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Governor of Bihar and Lakshadweep Administrator were available at NIC VC studio located at respective States.

This was a first of its kind conference where 9 States participated in interactive mode. The conference was well appreciated by all dignitaries present at Vigyan Bhavan.

Honourable President of India addressed the Honourable Chief Justice of India, Honourable Justices of Supreme Court and High Courts, the Director of National Judicial Academy, technologists and other participants during JUDICIAL COLLOQUIUM ON SCIENCE, LAW AND ETHICS AT NATIONAL JUDICIAL ACADEMY, and BHOPAL over Videoconferencing on 19th February 2005.

Address by Honorable President of India during Valedictory Function of the NASSCOM 2005, Mumbai over Videoconferencing - 10th February,2005

Honourable President of India Shri A.P.J.Abdul Kalam addressed a gathering of around 1200 participants during Valedictory function of NASSCOM, about Technology Leads to Non-Linear business growth in India Leadership Forum being organised by NASSCOM on 10th February, 2005 over videoconferencing.

VC Officials with Hon'ble President of IndiaHonourable President Shri Kalam said the theme - Technology Leads to Non-Linear business growth - was Small Aim is Crime. He also addressed the gathering about the Tele Education Delivery System, Single Window Smart Media Convergent System and knowledge products for non-linear growth. Videoconferencing support by NIC for the relief work after Mandhardevi
Temple tragedy in Satara district of Maharashtra - January 27, 2005

The relief and rehabilitation work for the Mandhardevi Temple tragedy was coordinated by the Senior Officials of Govt. of Maharashtra (Home Secretary, Relief and Rehabilitation Secretary and CM Secretary) between Mantralaya and Satara district over videoconference from 25th January 4.00pm to 26th January 3.00pm. NIC Satara District Centre provided immediate support for arrangement of the VC.

 

 

Holding of VC Meeting by Chief Minister of HP during his winter sojourn
at Dharamshala - January 24, 2005

Honourable Chief Minister having VC with Shimla MC Mayor. On 15th January 2004 the Honourable Chief Minister of H.P. who is in Dharamshala District Kangra during his winter sojourn visited NIC District centre Dharamshala and had a VC session with Mr. Sohan Lal, Mayor, Municipal Corporation Shimla. During the VC, CM reviewed the work being done by the MC Shimla. The Chief Minister also directed Mayor, Shimla to computerize all works related to Municipal Corporation and assured that Govt. will provide full support for this work through Department of IT. Chief Minister said that soon CM Office Shimla, entire districts of H.P. will have video conferencing facility including the four Tribal Sub. Division viz, Pangi, Bharmour, Kaza and Pooh. Chief Minister said Video conferencing is the very
good facility for interacting with the Officers of the Districts. Mayor Shimla thanked the Honourable Chief Minister for providing VC in all the districts of H.P. Honourable Revenue Minister Mr. Sat Mahajan, Honourable Transport Minister Mr. G.S. Bali, Mr. B.B. Butail Chief Advisor to CM, Mr. S.S Parmar Chief Secretary Govt. of H.P, Financial Commissioner, Revenue, Divisional Commissioner Kangra, Secretary (IT) Govt. of H.P., Director Land Records, Deputy Commissioner Kangra and large no. of dignitaries were
present during this occasion. At Shimla along with Mayor, SIO NIC-HP and Addl. Director Land records and other officers were present.

 

 

 

Inauguration of e-Panchayat Project, by Hon CM of Chattisgarh - 26th
January 2005


The e-Panchayat project in Chattisgarh was inaugurated through Videoconferencing by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Chattisgarh Dr. Raman Singh on the 26th January’2005 from Janpad Panchayat, Ambikapur. As part of the project implementation DVB VSATs have been installed at all the 146 Janpad Panchayats and 16 Zila Panchayats for the implementation of Ruralsoft and Priasoft applications in Chattisgarh. While NIC Chattisgarh State Unit provided all the technical support, required hardware like systems, VSATs were provided through NICSI. The State Government has sanctioned Rs. 8.22 crores for the project which includes deployment of one support staff at each Janpad Panchayat for one year initially by the NICSI.

Chief Minister was narrated about the e-Panchayat project in Chattisgarh and explained how the application of GIS tools over Ruralsoft and Priasoft data can be useful in the analysis of Development works taken up by all Panchayats. The whole proceedings were multicast to each and every node (Zila or Janpad panchayat) by VC division, NIC, New Delhi. Also watching the event over multi point videoconferencing were Dr. N.Vijayaditya, DG (NIC), Mr. K.C. Dwivedi, MD (NICSI), Mr. D.C. Misra, Sr.TD, and Dr. D.R.Shukla, TD from NIC HQ, New Delhi and the Hon’ble Minister for Panchayat and rural development of Chattisgarh Mr. Ajay Chandrakar, the Secretary, Rural Development Mr. M.K.Raut, and the director Panchayat department Mr. Sroti from Janpad Panchayat, Kurud, District Dhamtari.

Talking to DG (NIC), the Chief Minister expressed his happiness and thanked him and his team for keeping the word of e-Panchayat project implementation by 26th January 2005. In his 20 minute conversation with DG the CM congratulated NIC’s team in a number of ways and acknowledged that the bond between NIC and the state government is strengthening by each passing year.

The uniqueness of this multipoint videoconferencing is that unlike in previous occasions using DAMA it was IP based VC at 384 Kbps each on DVB VSATs.
